Conveyor belt

A conveyor belt moves products or packaging on an endlessly circulating belt from one station to the next. It links machines into one continuous line.

Design and function

The belt runs over a driven drum and a tail drum. In between it is carried by a slider bed or a row of idlers. A tensioning device keeps the belt taut and guides keep it on track. The drive is a geared motor or a drum motor.

Besides smooth plastic belts there are modular belts made of individual plastic links, which are easy to repair and clean. For inclines the belts carry cleats or side walls.

Where it is used

Conveyor belts work in the food industry between processing, filling and packaging. Parts with product contact must be designed for this use; the evidence for it is provided by the manufacturer of the respective part.

Typical spare and wear parts
